CLASSES WE OFFER
Syracuse Children’s Theatre offers year-round classes for children from Pre-K through 12th grade. Spring and Fall classes are semester-long courses, February and April Break Camps are a week-long classes offered during the school breaks, and Summer Camp offers five, two-week camps.
All courses culminate in a production/public performance.
Fall Semester Classes
We offer one large-scale production performed by the entire SCT student population. Weekend classes begin mid-September and meet once a weekend for a three-hour class. Younger students Pre-K to Grade 1 meet either Tuesday or Thursday nights for an hour and fifteen minutes. Our Spring and Fall productions are known for our impressive large-scale sets, costumes, and overall spectacle. The students perform in a musical production during the second and third weekends of December.
Spring Semester Classes
We offer one large-scale production performed by the entire SCT student population. Classes start in mid-January and and meet once a weekend for a three-hour class. Younger students Pre-K to Grade 1 meet either Tuesday or Thursday nights for an hour and fifteen minutes. Our Spring and Fall productions are known for our impressive large-scale sets, costumes, and overall spectacle. The culminating production takes place on Mother’s Day weekend in May.
February/April Break Camps
The February and April Break Camps are provided for students in grades 1 to 9. Students meet Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm over February or April Break. On Monday morning the students learn a song and a dance. In the afternoon the students audition for roles in a culminating production. Everyone gets a part in the show. On Friday the kids meet at the Civic Center in the morning. They adjust to stage in the morning, and have a dress rehearsal in the afternoon. We have a pizza party before the show and students perform Friday night. The show is roughly 45 minutes to an hour long.
Summer Camp
SCT has a highly entertaining summer camp schedule. There are five sessions of summer camp, from which you can pick one, two or even up to three sessions. Two-week camp sessions start at the end of June and run through late-August. We offer one production for students in Grades 1 – 5 and an older student production for students in Grades 6 – 12. Each two-week camp is Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the show takes place on the last Friday of camp in the Civic Center – Carrier Theatre.
